Online Video Live

Welcome to Online Video Live. The Internet keeps moving to a ubiquitous internet, where all things are “online”, as well as instantaneous where video is live as well. The mass market for camera phones has increased the supply of user-generated video. Current broadband Internet connections are well suited to serving the quality of video shot on mobile phones. A recent application of the video hosting services is in the mobile web 2.0 arena, where video and other mobile content can be delivered to, and easily accessed by mobile devices.

Online video can be either geared for one viewer (as in video monitoring) or multitudes of viewers (as in live broadcasts). One thing is for sure – the Internet is migrating from text to video, and in the future – will migrate to full sensory immersion to include haptic (touch) and olfactory (smell). This in a network environment will also be available for shared, real time experiences. For now, however, we are just in the video stage of the Internet’s evolution – moving from “stored” video to “live” video – which is a precursor to full immersion virtual reality.
